Workshop Overview:
When we were children, we were in touch with enchantment. Our imaginations were awakened to the unknown and the beautiful, which helped us understand and navigate an often daunting world. We knew, because we were open, that life was inherently extraordinary, filled with great promise. Now, we live in a time defined by information, not meaning. Life feels immensely stressful, busy, and chaotic. In these conditions, over time, we lose touch with the enchantment. Possibilities and the present become duller and we start to hold a more narrow vision of the world.
But finding the enchantment isn’t as superficial as finding temporary joy or a moment of respite from stress. It goes beyond anything we can buy or do, into an imaginal shift that allows us to see the world in a different way, throughout our days, every day. When taken as a practice, finding the enchantment can completely alter your life, bringing shimmer and joy to even the most difficult times. It can lead you in new directions, to new discoveries. What we find enchanted—and enchanting—automatically lifts our spirits and brings us a lightness of heart as we go about our days.
In this spirit-filled, transformative workshop, revered author and coach Rene Denfeld will help us use our senses, imaginations, and writing prompts to get in touch with our original enchantment and find the enchantment in life. She will lead us through her unique and innovative practices, honed through years of finding brilliance in even the darkest of times. Rene will share how her personal connection with enchantment completely transformed her felt experience, as well as her very-real circumstances.
She’ll teach practical methods that bring tangible results, whether for artistic expression, unlocking potential, or bringing more illumination into your life and the lives of others. This workshop is particularly suited for those who want to move into leadership roles—including self-leadership—with a greater sense of joy, calm and uplift.

About the Facilitator
Rene Denfeld is the award-winning, bestselling author of five novels including The Enchanted, The Child Finder, and Sleeping Giants. Her writing has been praised by Margaret Atwood as "astonishing."
Her new literary thriller, The Talking Bone, will be published in July of 2026 by HarperCollins. It was inspired by her work exonerating innocents. For almost twenty years, Rene has worked as a licensed defense investigator. The past Chief Investigator for public defenders, she has worked hundreds of cases, including death row exonerations. She is a justice worker, a teacher and a coach.
In 2017, The New York Times named Rene a Hero of the Year and she was awarded the Break The Silence Award in Washington, DC.
Her novels have received many prestigious literary awards, including a French Prix, an ALA Medalfor Excellence in Fiction, and a listing for the International Dublin Literary Award.
She lives in Portland, Oregon, where she is the happy parent of adult kids she adopted from foster care, and a Great Pyrenees named Snow Dog.
