WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
Legacy burdens are burdens we receive from our ancestors, through our family line. Cultural burdens are burdens absorbed from the broader culture(s) in which we live. Both types of burdens create beliefs and patterns of behavior that can be corrosive and counter-productive, perpetuated across generations. These burdens are not just learned behaviors. They’re parts of a distinct energy field that connects us to each other—in any group we belong to—but concentrated in our families. And the energy field is which they function is not just an intellectual concept. It is a material presence—held, embodied, and enacted. When we are unaware of these forces and have no meaningful way to address them, they get passed unnoticed to those we love. Often, they grow in intensity.
In this workshop, you’ll become present to ancestral heirlooms—aspects of your culture you want to cherish, nurture and pass on—and also learn to identify and energetically resolve burdens that no longer serve you. This is powerful, meaningful work that can have a positive, lasting impact on you and the web of life we share.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this workshop, you will have:
working knowledge of cultural and legacy burdens and why they matter
an opportunity to meaningfully explore your unique cultural and legacy burdens and blessings
a greater sense of the subtle implications of growing up in the culture you were raised in
completed experiential work in breakout dyads and in circle
observed (or participated in) demos of unlearning
greater confidence in doing your own work to identify and energetically resolve burdens that no longer serve you
